The idea of Momohana began from a love of cute things; specifically, Japan's vibrant, quirky kawaii culture. There’s just something about walking into the chaos of a street filled to the brim with adorable characters and media that feels so wonderful — you’re not sure where to look or what you should pick up first!
Based in Sydney, we’re fortunate to have a slice of that culture in our own backyard, with lots of lovely little shops in the city and suburbs. But in 2024, we noticed that wasn’t the case so much elsewhere. Online wasn’t much better, with the majority of websites we found being based overseas, or otherwise not necessarily focused on kawaii goods. Anyone in our neck of the woods knows the pain of international shipping fees and discovering that the thing you really want isn’t available here.
So we decided to do something about it. Kawaii culture is something that brings us a little joy in a world that can seem a bit bleak at times, so we set out to create something that made it as accessible as possible to new and existing fans alike both in Australia and New Zealand. All of the products we stock are imported directly from Japan and are readily available on hand in Sydney. We make it a point to source not only popular kawaii brands, but lesser-known ones that we believe deserve the spotlight too!
As we grow, our catalogue will continue to grow alongside us, and it’s our hope that we can become an accessible source of all kinds of kawaii products in the AUS/NZ region.
